Conversational leadership, campaigning & policymaking - open workshops

Book now – from just £145

We offer a range of flexible options including full day open workshops aimed at groups or individuals from just £145 per person, and “in house” group training starting at £795.

The emergence of social media tools has changed politics and policy-making. The ‘broadcast’ mode of communications promoted by TV and traditional media is being replaced by a more multilateral exchange of information.

Policymaking is changing accordingly. Where a small number of civil servants, think-tanks, academics and politicians had a monopoly on the detailed discussion of policy, now millions expect to be involved. This offers huge opportunities to anyone who understands what they are. It also presents threats that have already ended more than one career in public life.

In this session, you will learn about …

  • How to increase the ‘signal’ and reduce the ‘noise’ – attracting useful feedback
  • How to present information in a way that provokes useful responses
  • Encouraging users to add value to each others contributions
  • The politics of mass consultation: Quality over quantity
  • Working with existing democratic structures

Who is it for?

  • CEOs and senior managers
  • communications professionals
  • councillors
  • MLAs and their assistants
  • NGOs & Third Sector professionals
  • public sector managers
  • policy specialists

You will leave this one-day session (10am – 4pm) with a clearer understanding of the skills and tools you will need to improve the way that your foster policy processes. It will provide an introduction to the aspects of social media that you will need to consult effectively and improve the way you solicit advice from the public. You will also leave with an outline of the technical skills you will need to realise these ambitions.

A range of full day open workshops taking place in Belfast during 2010. These are all one-day sessions (10am – 4pm) and can be booked individually at £145 per person. Don’t worry if you can’t make them all – we’ll be offering other opportunities to attend these over the coming months. You can find out more information about dates and times by visiting the Slugger Consults website.

All workshop tickets are subject to Slugger O'Toole Ltd's terms and condidtions.
